Here We Come A Wassaling?

This is probably going to be our last post for about 2 weeks because we are leaving on a jet plane. That's right...i'm on vacation. Oh does it feel good. Dess and i will be leaving tomorrow afternoon for Washington and Idaho. We're going to be spending the holidays with our family. There really isn't anyone better to spend your holidays with besides family. (To the Butler's: you know i'd love to spend my holidays with you as well.) We are looking forward to snow, chocolate milk with whipped cream, sleeping in, spending time in front of the fire place, a seafood Christmas dinner and much, much more.

Today i asked Captain Jake if he knew what "Wassaling" was. He told me that "Wassal" is some sort of drink, probably alcoholic in nature, which is brewed during the holidays. He likened it to grog, but of course he would... he's a salty captain of the seas. I thought that it was interesting that we sing a song during the holidays about going out to get this wonderous drink... Wassal. After i found out what "wassaling" was, i decided to stop singing the song. Oh, and of course i have no idea how to come close to spelling wassal, so please don't even try to correct me :)

Oh, for those of you who may have tried to post "comments" in the past, well, i found out how to allow anyone to post a comment (i think), not just "BLOG" users. So, if you tried in the past and had difficulties, give it another shot. I'd like to put out a special thanks to Trena who posted a comment and had to create a blog just to do it. Thank you so much!! That's awesome.

It's neat to have this blog running and to be able to post pictures and random thoughts from the day. I felt a sense of accomplishment today when i finished up the wiring on the land crew's quansat hut. It was the only project i'd planned on doing during our two days back at work. Of course it wasn't the only thing i've done over the last two days, but it was the goal i'd set for myself. I also got to check out motor controller, fix the hot water heater wiring for the ship, checked out a welder that was malfunctioning, interacted with people and had a vent session with Mary, the ministry manager. It was all fun and exciting. Each day brings it's new adventures.

That's all my ranting for this evening. I hope all our family and friends are doing well and have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed new year.

Vacation in Stockton, California

So the pictures below are pictures from Joels and mine trip to Stockton California to see our home church VICTORY IN PRAISE.
God was so awesome to bless us with plane tickets (through my parents) to see our CHURCH family. I had been praying for 4 months to fly to Victory in Praise the weekend after my birthday. A month before the date a lady from our church in Louisiana offered us tickets to a couples retreat for the same weekend. Though we had not received the tickets to California yet I knew in my gut God would provide. So I said I am sorry we have plans that weekend.

Exactly a week later after the lady offered couple retreat tickets we recieved tickets from my parents for my birthday to go to Stockton. Is God not awesome or what. We spent the whole weekend with Toni, Toya, Champagne, Morgan, Langston and Getting our praise on with VIP. It was awesome.

One coolest thing about my birthday is that I ask God for a word to give me for the year. And even before I finished asking him the day of my birthday he responded with one word, "Gifts" Now being the person I am I thought Spiritual gifts. Little did I know that He would bless Joel and I through the year with natural gifts. Since my birthday in September we have gone to Stockton California for a weekend, FLorida for a week, New Orleans for the Hurricane, and now we are heading for Washington state.

And then I was really needing a brown belt but I wanted to wait until Joel and I got more money so I could get one and one day when I was thinking about it God clearly spoke and said why don't you ask Me for one. So I asked God specificly for a brown belt. Then when Joel and I got back from Florida there on the blessing Table was a genuin leather brown belt. Is God not awesome or what. It was a way better one than what I would have picked out.

I love the God that Joel and I serve. Not because He gives us things but because He is so in love with us and shows us in the most personal way.

Victory In Praise

Joel and I were blessed to get plane tickets to Stockton California where our home church is VICTORY IN PRAISE (VIP)

Then this is our wonderful Pastor Rufus and Ms. Trena being so kind to take a picture with the likes of us.

The Hulk

Here we are taking a dive on the Hulk at Islands of Adventure.

This is Dess and i on the Atlantic at Melbourn Beach, FL

This is Dess's favorite character shot from Islands of Adventure!

Some photos (at random)

Hey,

Here's some shots from our vacation. Woody Woodpecker is Dess' favorite character. She was so excited to get a photo with him. The other is Dess sifting through shells on the Melbourn Beach, FL.

In The Beginning

Well here goes nothing.

From the insistence of my family, especially Paul and Sarah, we've decided to start a blog. I was getting pretty home sick when i checked out their blog (tarasarahpaul.blogspot.com) and so i figured i'd do my part in letting you in on our lives. We're back right now from our vacation to Orlando, Fl. It was a blast. Dess and i were able to go to Islands of Adventure, a Universal Studios amusement park. We went on all the rides, except for the one where you had to have a child before they would let you go on it. I suggested that we ask some parents if we could take their kid on it, but Dess wasn't up for that. We did all the roller coasters and the water rides too. It was an exhausting day. We both realized we aren't as young as we once were. At about 3pm we crashed hard. We sat on the curb and just rested for about an hour. Man, i don't know how our parents ever did it.

Besides the amusement park, we also went to a dinner show called Medieval Times. It was a fun night and Dess was dubbed "The Queen of Love and Beauty" by the champion. She was all dressed up in a beautiful gown that she'd purchased for this vacation. It was a black beauty with a little bit of a dark red underneath it. She looked gorgeous. We also went mini-golfing and go-karting and to the Atlantic coast where we got to play around on the beach. All in all it was a fun time. We got some needed rest and had lots of play time too. Thank you everyone that had a part in providing for us. We thank God for the fact that within a week, we'd gotten about $600 to make this trip possible. Isn't God great!!

Another part of the vacation was actually a mission for Dess. She felt led to a specific resort to talk with someone she didn't know. It was a little nerve wracking, but it all turned out well. Dess was able to share God's love with a lady named Nicole and it was just another step of faith for Dess.

We're back in Lake Charles for a few days before we depart for our next adventure to Washington/Idaho states in order to spend a merry Christmas with the Wendle's. Spending the holidays with family is such a wonderful thing.

I think that's about all i'm going to post for today. Hopefully i'll be able to figure out the pictures soon and get some of them posted too.

Blessings to you all.
